1️⃣ Overview
The ABB Power-One PVI-AEC-EVO v2.0 is a data logger for monitoring photovoltaic (PV) systems. It collects performance and operational data from ABB Aurora inverters and allows remote monitoring, analysis, and reporting through web-based platforms.
Key features:
-
Monitors multiple Aurora inverters via RS-485 or Ethernet
-
Logs real-time energy production, voltages, currents, and inverter status
-
Provides historical data for performance analysis
-
Supports remote access via web portals or networked monitoring systems
-
Helps optimize PV system performance and detect faults
2️⃣ Safety Instructions ⚠️
-
Installation must be performed by qualified personnel only.
-
Disconnect all AC and DC power from connected inverters before wiring the data logger.
-
Avoid installing in wet, dusty, or high-temperature environments.
-
Ensure proper grounding for safety and reliable operation.
3️⃣ System Requirements
-
Compatible ABB Aurora inverters (check inverter model compatibility)
-
RS-485 or Ethernet cabling from inverters to data logger
-
Network connection for web portal or remote monitoring
-
Optional PC or laptop for configuration and local monitoring
4️⃣ Installation
A. Mounting
-
Mount the data logger on a wall or DIN rail in a dry, ventilated location.
-
Ensure accessibility for wiring and monitoring.
-
Avoid direct sunlight and moisture exposure.
B. Communication Wiring
-
RS-485 Interface:
-
Connect RS-485 A/B terminals to the inverters.
-
Use twisted pair cabling recommended for RS-485 networks.
-
Terminate the RS-485 bus with 120 Ω resistors at each end if required.
-
-
Ethernet (optional):
-
Connect the RJ45 port to the local network for internet access.
-
Assign IP addresses if needed.
-
-
Check wiring polarity and shielding for proper communication.
C. Power Supply
-
Connect the data logger to its power source (typically 12–24 V DC or 230 V AC depending on the model).
-
Verify LED indicators power-on correctly.
5️⃣ Configuration Procedure
-
Connect a PC to the data logger via Ethernet or USB.
-
Access the device configuration page using a web browser (IP address provided in the manual).
-
Set up inverter network settings (RS-485 addresses, baud rate).
-
Configure connection to web portal or local monitoring software.
-
Test communication with each inverter to ensure data logging is functional.
6️⃣ Monitoring & Operation
-
Real-time Monitoring: View inverter status, power output, voltages, and currents.
-
Historical Data: Access daily, monthly, and yearly energy statistics.
-
Fault Logging: Records inverter faults and events for troubleshooting.
-
Remote Access: View system performance remotely via web portal or compatible monitoring software.
7️⃣ Maintenance
-
Keep the data logger clean and free from dust and moisture.
-
Inspect RS-485 and Ethernet connections periodically.
-
Check LED status indicators for proper operation.
-
Update firmware via the ABB portal when prompted to maintain compatibility and security.
8️⃣ Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Possible Cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| No communication with inverter | RS-485 wiring issue | Verify A/B polarity and connections |
| No data on web portal | Network or Internet issue | Check Ethernet connection and router settings |
| Error LED on logger | Hardware fault or short | Contact ABB-certified technician |
| Intermittent data | Electrical noise or excessive cable length | Use twisted pair cables, proper grounding, reduce RS-485 segment length |
9️⃣ Shutdown Procedure
-
Power off the data logger.
-
Disconnect RS-485 and Ethernet cables if performing maintenance.
-
Ensure connected inverters continue normal operation.
Technical Summary
-
