The ABB OVR PV 40-1000 C is a Type 2 Surge Protection Device (SPD) specifically designed for photovoltaic DC installations.

This device protects solar inverters, PV strings, and sensitive electronic equipment from transient overvoltages caused by indirect lightning strikes, atmospheric disturbances, or switching surges on the DC line.

The OVR PV 40-1000 C is suitable for photovoltaic systems with maximum DC voltage up to 1000V, providing strong surge protection with a nominal discharge current of 20 kA and a maximum discharge current of up to 40 kA.

Thanks to ABB’s modular design, the device allows easy replacement of the protection cartridges and quick visual inspection of operational status through a front status indicator.

It is intended for installation in PV DC protection panels or string combiner boxes, mounted on a standard 35 mm DIN rail.
