Description
NEW
1. Overview
The Fronius Datalogger & Interface Monitor is a communication and data acquisition device designed to collect, store and transmit photovoltaic system performance data via network interfaces (Ethernet/serial). It enables both local access and remote monitoring of system performance and diagnostics.
2. Powering the Device
-
Connect the device to a 12 V DC power supply capable of at least 250 mA output.
-
Ensure the correct polarity (+/–) and a stable supply — loss of voltage may interrupt data logging.
3. Device Connections
Ethernet
-
Use a standard LAN cable to connect the device’s Ethernet port to a network switch or router.
-
This allows access via local web interface or integration with software such as Fronius DATCOM.
RS232 / Serial (if available)
-
Some models include an RS232 or modem port for legacy communication with compatible components.
4. Network Configuration
-
After powering up and connecting to LAN, the device will obtain an IP address.
-
Access the built-in web interface via a web browser using the device’s IP address.
-
Through the web interface you can view status, configure settings and update firmware.
5. Monitoring & Data Access
Within the user interface you can typically:
✔ View real‑time PV system performance data.
✔ Monitor historical performance logs.
✔ Diagnose communication or performance faults.
✔ Configure alarm thresholds and relay outputs.
6. Firmware & Software Updates
-
Firmware updates can be performed via the web interface (LAN).
-
When updating, ensure the device remains powered and network connected.
-
Do not interrupt the update process.
7. Safety & Protection
-
The device is designed for indoor use (IP20); protect it from moisture and dust.
-
Operate within rated voltage and temperature specifications.
-
Avoid exposing connectors to static or incorrect wiring.
8. Typical Troubleshooting
No Network Access
✔ Check Ethernet cable and switch/router connection.
✔ Verify that the device has a valid IP address.
No Data Display
✔ Ensure the datalogger is connected to the inverter or monitoring interface correctly.
✔ Verify that the inverter supports external logging.
Power Indication
✔ Confirm correct 12 V DC supply at 250 mA minimum.
✔ Replace power supply if the device fails to boot.
